Seattle police shot suspect who killed K9 officer and seriously injured policeman

On Wednesday, the Seattle Police Department officers shot and killed a suspect after he allegedly stabbed a K9 officer to death and injured a policeman.

According to the Seattle Police Blotter press release and video, the violent situation began when a victim called 911 to report a man breaking into a home with a knife. The responding team released their K9 to chase the robber when K9 Jedi “engaged with the subject.” During the struggle, the suspect killed the dog and injured the police officer.

Another officer arrived on scene and fired at the suspect, fatally striking him.

The Force Investigation Team will investigate the officer-involved shooting. Representatives of the Office of Police Accountability and the Office of Inspector General also responded to the scene.

A video of the violent incident has been released by the Seattle Police Department showing the K9 team, a police officer and a patrol car sergeant contacting the burglary suspect. The suspect can be seen brandishing a machete and a knife and fatally stabbing K9 Jedi before the officer opens fire.

The Seattle Police Department invites the public to remember K9 Jedi.
