Julia was found all alone at a Houston park just two days ago. Rescuers from ThisIsHouston rushed her to their partner Blue Pearl emergency veterinarian’s hospital where she was administered heat support and started on intravenous fluids to rehydrate her tiny body. Julia is only estimated to be about six-weeks-old, weighs 2.2 pounds and didn’t deserve to begin her life abandoned, in pain and crying for her mother.
When found, and perhaps that is why she was abandoned by her owner, suffers from a severe case of mange that has her head and face so caked, it has become as hard as a rock and cracked. For the last two days she has been on fluids and seemed bright and alert when volunteers visited her, even though she could barely open her tiny eyes.
Just today, however Julia started having trouble breathing and was placed on oxygen. Radiographs show an enlarged heart and a follow up echocardiogram was performed. Fortunately, the results show no defects in her heart, and it is believed her discomfort is related to a fluid overload.
She is currently being treated appropriately, and has to continue fighting in order for her to grow and understand this isn’t how life is supposed to be.
