A puppy mill operator in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to jail time after entering an open guilty plea to a charge of animal cruelty. As reported by the Reading Eagle, 62-year-old Daniel Esh was sentenced on Tuesday to 30 days behind bars at the Lancaster County Prison. Esh is also sentenced to a 90-day ban from animal ownership.

In September, Esh was sentenced to 90 days in prison, but he appealed the sentencing. Esh’s son, Omar, is awaiting trial on multiple counts of animal cruelty and neglect stemming from the same seizure in June at the Scarlet-Maple Farm Kennel.

The Pennsylvania SPCA will be monitoring conditions at the property for the next three years through random inspections.
