Poor pup held as ‘evidence’ for 8 months in shelter without ever being let out

What poor Cash has endured for the last eight months is genuinely intolerable and cruel. For the last eight months, Cash has been held at the South L.A. Shelter in California and had not been let out of his kennel cage for a walk or any enrichment. It is astonishing how dogs have continued to pay for irresponsible owners.

Cash had been held as “evidence” in a court case. The following video shows the result of this treatment. He has had no walks nor human touch for the last eight months.

Volunteers have found there is NO policy that states that dogs such as Cash cannot be taken out for a walk or for any enrichment. We have to ask why this is being practiced. Cash was released from an “evidence hold” just recently and will most likely be transferred to another shelter in L.A., but is currently being held at South L.A. Shelter.

The following information about Cash has been provided:

Cash’s records do not state that he bit anyone. He and 2 others were alleged to have ‘attacked ‘ a woman and her Yorkie, but there was no bite on the woman. The Yorkie had a bite to his neck and chest region. I additionally believe, there is no indication which of the 3 dogs bit the Yorkie (he survived btw). There’s already such a bias against these guys, I’d hate for a bite to be attributed to them unnecessarily.

I first met CASH in November 2021. He came in as an Evidence hold on 11/7/21. Infuriating that volunteers were not allowed to take him out until now. Just a cruel practice for these dogs that must change.

This is Cash.
He has been held as “evidence” in a court case and has not been allowed out of his kennel for 8 months until now.
What you’re seeing is the result of that. No walks, no human touch for 8 months.

Cash isn’t the only dog who has been subjected to this kind of treatment. Something has to be done to bring humane treatment to the most vulnerable – the dogs whose owners have been completely irresponsible and the dogs used as “evidence” who have no voice at all.

  1. SUPER URGENT! THIS IS “BEYOND” CRIMINAL! WE NEED A HERO AND/OR ANGEL TO GET CASH OUT OF THERE! IT WILL TAKE A “WORLD OF LOVE”
TO MAKE THIS UP TO HIM!

  2. This poor dog how could they just lock him in a cage and totally ignore him. He’s just given up. Shame on this shelter for abusing this dog. They have broken him with solitary confinement! No walks. No human contact. No love. No life.
