A Texas couple has been arrested following the discovery of 10 dead dogs in the back of a rented box truck. According to a release from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office (North Carolina), Scott Thomas McCaffrey and Tambra Lynn Clift of Weslaco, Texas, were booked into the Moore County Detention Center on ten counts of Felony Cruelty to Animals on Tuesday, June 7.

The arrests follow a report of multiple deceased dogs in the back of box truck on Grant Street in the Seven Lakes area of West End. Responding animal control officers found a total of 10 dogs dead in the back of the rented truck. Negligence on the part of McCaffrey and Clift are believed to be the reason that the dogs died – the deceased dogs are being sent to a North Carolina lab for necropsies to determine the exact cause of death.

Anyone with information regarding this or any other investigation is requested to contact the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 910-947-4444.
