At Yellowstone National Park, a video was posted on social media late last week, showing a man in a green sweatshirt holding grass in his hands as he gingerly approached a bison and attempted to hand feed the animal. “What could go wrong?” the headlines of the video read.

According to Yahoo Sports News, the video, since deleted from YouTube by the person who posted it, stated the location was from Blackwater Creek Ranch in Cody, Wyoming which is approximately 15 miles from the east entrance for the park. Fortunately, the “animal whisperer” as the narrator stated was not injured, however the video cut out just as one could hear “watch out” and the bison beginning to charge at the man. Moments later laughter could be heard.

Every year the National Park Service warns tourists to stay clear of the animals. Unfortunately, some people are just too stupid to pay attention.

Never approach wildlife

The animals in Yellowstone are wild and unpredictable, no matter who calm they appear to be. The safest (and often best) view of the wildlife is from inside a car. Always stay at least 100 yards away from bears and wolves, and at least 25 yards away from all other animals, including bison and elk.

Never feed wildlife

Animals that become dependent on human food may become aggressive toward people and have to be killed. Keep all food, garbage, or other smelly items packed away when not in use.

The National Park Service shared a poster urging people not to pet the fluffy cows earlier this year after three people were gored by the animals in less than a week.
