In Des Moines, Iowa, an emaciated German shepherd is currently under the care of the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. The dog’s owner, Lloyd Christopher Frank, 28, has been arrested and charged with one count of animal neglect – causing death or serious injury.

The six-year-old dog named Adler had been described as “emaciated, with open wounds all over his body.” According to Kcrg.com, Adler weighed just 59.4 pounds – 15 to 30 pounds below the dog’s ideal weight for breed and bone structure, and suffered from chemical burns all over this body.

The dog remains under the care of Miracle Medical Ward through the Animal Rescue League of Iowa and will be available for adoption once he is feeling better and at a healthier weight.

Get well soon Adler.
