Two police officers from the Elyria Police Department are proof that angels still exist and quite frequently come in the form of exemplary officers who go beyond their job description to help people and their beloved pets in dire times of need.

According to the Elyria Police Department social media page, Officers Constantino and Csata arrived at vehicle parked on the side of Broad Street. The woman lives in her car with her dog. Unfortunately, she had run out of gasoline while temperatures dropped to less than 10 degrees Fahrenheit along with a chill factor registering below zero.

The officers exhausted all attempts to find the woman, along with her pet, a shelter with no success. They also contacted a family member to help. Sadly, there were no options, but the officers took it upon themselves to help.

The officers then put gas in the woman’s car at their own expense.

Their efforts certainly made the woman more comfortable and we are proud of the positive example both Officers have displayed to the Elyria community.
