New life of hope for Lakota who was found nearly starved to death

Lakota has started his new life thanks to the kindness and care from the Brandywine Valley SPCA in Pennsylvania. On Thursday, the Mastiff-sized dog was rescued by a Good Samaritan who brought him to the organization’s New Castle Campus. When he arrived, Lakota weighed only 20 pounds.

Even more heartbreaking were the young dog’s flinches whenever someone touched him. What a horrible life he must have experienced in the past; how badly had he been abused?

Despite the life he was lucky enough now to leave behind, Lakota yearns for love. His foster home welcomed him and has been administering small meals hourly to help him safely gain weight.

Last night he snuggled under the covers in bed with her and barely moved all night; the first peaceful sleep he’s probably had in his whole life.
