In Tyler, Texas the Humane Society of the United States assisted the Smith County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office in the rescue of nearly 40 dogs. The SPCA of East Texas and Animal Investigations and Response also assisted with the daunting task.

According to the press release, a warrant served on the property last Friday, found dogs in chain-link kennels with frozen water bowls. The medal on the cages were collapsed, some dogs appeared fearful, and other dogs were excited to see rescuers and eager to greet people.

The dogs have been transferred to an undisclosed location where are being examined by veterinarians and receiving the care they need and deserve. RedRover responders are assisting the HSUS caring and sheltering the dogs. An additional ten dogs removed from the same property earlier this month by the SPCA of East Texas, will join the others.

The HSUS had been notified by Smith County officials about the welfare of the animals on the property. The dogs have since been surrendered and will be available for adoption once they are medically cleared.
