A Florida man has been arrested and charged for shooting his neighbor’s dog after it got into his trash can. As reported by Fox 35 News, 58-year-old Curtis Jones, of Groveland, used a shotgun on his neighbor’s dog after it was seen “digging” through his trash.

The dog died at an animal hospital where a veterinarian found “numerous holes” in the dog that were consistent with someone intentionally shooting it, despite Jones’ claim that he did not intend on striking the dog. An x-ray revealed that more than 80 pellets had struck the dog. On Sunday, police arrested Jones for aggravated animal cruelty and he was booked into the Lake County Jail.
