The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office brought to the public on Thursday a heartwarming story of dog rescue and kindness. Detective Araujo had been driving along one of the busy roads in town when he spotted a lost dog running in and out of traffic.

When Detective Araujo stopped his vehicle to call out to the dog to help rescue him, it seems the pooch must have recognized the officer and happily ran towards him and guess what? If you guessed the dog jumped right into the front seat of the officer’s car, you’re right!

And so the detective and the dog drove to Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control, where his microchip was read and his owners identified. The family were later reunited.

This poor fellow had been missing from his home for nine days, and we are very grateful that Detective Araujo stopped to help him. Needless to say, this dog’s rescue went viral, and we are always so happy when those who cannot speak have their “voices” heard.

Stop by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page and give Detective Araujo an “attaboy” too.
