‘Loser’ arrested for beating dog in backseat of a car

A man described as “a loser” by Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno, has been arrested for animal cruelty after he was observed hitting his dog in the backseat of a car at the Fort Myers RaceTrac on March 29. The man Sheriff Marceno is referring to is 22-year-old Marcus Chiddister – a man who already has an extensive criminal history.

Sheriff Marcena tells WINK News:

“He’s 22 years old and this is now 45 arrests okay 45 arrests in 22 years you know what there’s no place for him. He should leave the county while he can. He’s a loser,”

Investigators found evidence inside of the car in the video proving that his dog, Sheeba, had been there. After the authorities spoke to his girlfriend, she confirmed that the car in the video is hers and that the man beating the dog was her boyfriend. The woman told the police that Chiddister was angry that Sheeba had eaten some of their food.

Lee County Domestic Animal Services took possession of Sheeba and it was determined that she had “non-accidental” injuries.

Marceno said:

“Our legal department will now work with the courts and go through a civil process to make certain that we get that dog, we take that dog from the owners so we can never get abuse from that owner again. And more so, I don’t want him owning a dog ever again,”

Chiddister is facing a felony animal cruelty charge.
