On Saturday, Wrigley, a chocolate Labrador retriever was deemed a hero after he found another dog stuck inside of a sinkhole in Manilla Park, Illinois. According to Streator Animal Control, the golden had been missing for more than a day, and no one knew she had fallen into the five-foot deep hole.

Wrigley found the golden, named Macy and alerted his owner. In a Facebook post, the amazing story was told:

Wrigley here who found Macy! Wrigley very easily also could have fallen into the sink hole but luckily everything worked out. Thank you everyone who looked, Jordon for taking his drone out last night… thank you for all the prayers and shares. Macy immediately went to the vet and checked out fine!

The Streator Fire Department were able to rescue Macy from the hole.

The video shows the firefighters hoisting the dog up with a webbed strap across her abdomen. Adding to the stress of the rescue, one of the firefighters lost his footing while in the hole, but was able to climb to safety. They then removed the ladder, and it was a team effort to get Macy to safety.

Macy is home!

Aside from some muddy paws and obviously needing and deserving a good shake, Macy survived her scary experience – all thanks to one very hairy hero named Wrigley and all the humans who joined to help because they are just angels.
