In Lubbock, Texas, Chance, an American Staffordshire terrier mix, is still waiting for a home seven years later. The Haven ACS Lubbock has been the only home this sweet dog can remember. According to the founder of the no-kill animal sanctuary, Dr. Brenda Willbanks, Chance is very sweet and would just love to be someone’s lapdog.

In 2015, Chance arrived at the shelter and had been rescued from a dog fight situation where she had a severely damaged jaw. Surgeons were able to rebuild her jaw, but the trauma of the fight and the pain left Chance very shy and cautious around people. Sadly, however most adopters are looking for outgoing pooches, and Chance has just been passed by.

We want everyone to understand that Chance was simply in a “dog fight with another dog”, not a “person induced dog fight”. Some very nice people broke up the dog fight and brought Chance to us to get her nursed back to health. Meet Chance!! Chance was brought to the Haven about a week and a half ago after being rescued from a dog fight. When she came in her sweet little face was very torn up and still bleeding pretty bad. We got her to the vet and after some surgery she is stitched up and on the road to recovery! We originally thought she was a boy since she was too scared to let us near her at first. But by the time we convinced her that she was safe we had already named her Chance and figured it was still a fitting name. She is currently being fostered by one of our employees and has made herself quite comfy as you can see. She will be ready for a forever home once she’s recovered!

The shelter describes Chance as very sweet who has “a lot of love to give,” however she is just very shy; has never shown any aggression. Someone just needs to give her a chance.

Please email [email protected] or come out on Saturdays if you can open your heart up to this precious dog who needs a hero. Share her story with friends, family and social media contacts.
