An adorable terrier who seemed to have been running out of luck had the happiest day last week when he was adopted after having spent 500 days at an animal rescue.

According to People, 10-year-old Buddy has been at the RSPCA’s Brent Knoll Animal Centre in Somerset, England, for the longest of any rescue animal despite being an “affectionate chap.” He had been surrendered by his former owner who wanted the dog euthanized for his poor behavior, however the veterinarian in charge refused.

Although the relationship between Buddy and his former owner remains unclear, the dog apparently began to act out, at which point the owner wanted the dog put to sleep.

The animal rescue wanted to help Buddy and began a positive reinforcement training program, and it wasn’t long before his behavior improved, however no one had offered to give Buddy a home.

But – then it happened, and it was Buddy’s day; he was adopted.

Buddy is settling in very well, he hasn’t stopped all day playing ball and going around the field, but he is asleep on my lap now! Regards Mr & Mrs J, we too are very happy! Thank you so much to all who have shown interest in his story and offered supported.
