A handsome senior dog has been patiently waiting for someone to free him from a busy Texas animal shelter. The nine-year-old dog, named Hunter, was taken to the Fort Worth Animal Care & Control facility after being picked up as a stray.

Based on a volunteer’s observations, it appears that Hunter was once someone’s companion.

A volunteer said when I first saw this guy cuddled up on his bed, I noticed his kennel was very clean. He was easy to leash up and happily went to the play yard. He was non-reactive to other dogs he walked by. Hunter even watched a horse trot by his yard and didn’t bark. He knows the sit command and takes treats very gently. Overall, this boy is extremely friendly, listens well, calm, and easy going.

This facility is extremely full and it is hot – staff and volunteers would love to see dogs like Hunter find a home and escape the heat and stress that accompanies life at the facility. You can find Hunter’s adoption information below.
