An emaciated dog is safe after being found and rescued by good Samaritans in St. Louis, Missouri. The dog, dubbed Danny, is skeletal and has pressure sores on his joints…indicative of being held in a small area and deprived of food.

Danny is safe now – the good Samaritans brought him to Stray Rescue of St. Louis. The rescue said that Danny craves human affection, writing:

As we pet him, he pushed himself against our hand, eager to be touched.

Danny

The animal welfare agency promises to keep Danny safe and return him to good health:

He is dangerously thin and malnourished, so will have to be fed several small meals throughout the day to avoid refeeding syndrome, which can be fatal. He’s 4 years old and just 40 pounds. He should be double that weight. Slowly, we will get him there. In the meantime, we will love him and show him he is worth so much more.

Danny no longer has to worry about where he will receive his next meal, or how he will stay warm during the frigid winter weather. You can follow Danny’s progress and/or make a donation towards his care at this link to Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
