A senior dog named Janice has been patiently waiting for someone to notice her from inside her kennel run at an Ohio animal shelter. The Columbiana County Dog Pound describes the nine-year-old dog as “very friendly” with people, and appreciative of the little things in life.

On April 1, the animal shelter posted a photo of Janice, describing her day-to-day reality:

For 2+ years, our sweet girl Janice has spent her life peering through a kennel at visitors. This picture shows just how happy the little things make her. A big soft bed, her bear and a kong with peanut butter. I was initially going to crop out the kennel wire, but sadly, this is her reality and I think it needs to be shown.Time after time, she has watched her fellow pound dogs be adopted, yet she is passed over everytime for one reason or another.

Janice has spent more time at the shelter than any other dog has…and if nothing changes, she may very well spend the remainder of her days in exactly the same manner…a homeless dog watching people pass her by.

The shelter writes:

She likes a little attention, then she’ll go take a nap. At 9 years old now, she isn’t the bouncy puppy most people look to bring home. She is picky about her dog friends and doesn’t like cats, but there are many people that don’t have other pets that are looking to adopt. For some reason, they just never seem to see her beautiful face when they’re looking.

Outlining just how long sweet Janice has been waiting:

No other dog has ever spent as much time at our shelter as Janice, even dogs that have been housed for court cases before they could be placed for adoption. 2 years. Let that sink in. She was aged at 7 when she came in. Now she is 9. 2 years in the shelter. Please share her picture and consider adopting her if you can!

You can help Janice get some much-needed attention by sharing this article and her adoption information!
