In Clearwater, Florida, the owner of a three-year-old pug said his girlfriend smiled before she threw his defenseless dog off the seventh-floor balcony of his apartment on Sunday.
According to Fox13News, Shelley Nicole Vaughn faces felony animal cruelty charges leading to the death of the dog named Bucky. Eric Adeson, the dog’s owner, says he has been traumatized after having watched Vaughn throw his dog to its death. Bucky landed on the asphalt parking lot below and did not survive. Included in the charges against Vaughn are aggravated animal cruelty, criminal mischief and domestic battery.
Two hours before this tragic event, Adeson stated he had secured a restraining order against Vaughn since she lives two floors down from him in the same building.
The couple allegedly had been fighting when Vaughn started with throwing her boyfriend’s cellphone and keys over the railing. Then she grabbed Bucky. Adeson alleges his girlfriend had been drinking and using drug mid-morning on Sunday before the horrible situation occurred.
Bucky had been with Adeson since 2019 when he came into the family as a puppy to be a companion for his dog Sandy who had been undergoing cancer treatments. Fortunately Sandy the puggle survived and is now 13-years-old.
Adeson has also filed a civil suit against Vaughn seeking $30,000 in damages.
