A dog enjoying a fun day out with her owner wound up in trouble after getting too close to an edge and tumbling into the water at Miami Beach, Florida. The Miami Beach Fire Department recounted what led up to the rescue effort this week:

A woman was playing with her pup at a dog park in Miami Beach, when the dog got too close to the edge and fell into the bay.

Fire Rescue Truck 22 and Engine 2 responded to the call for help, and firefighters Santis and Escudero used a roof ladder to get down into the bay and save the dog.

The video shows the dog clinging to her rescuer’s body as he carefully climbs the ladder and takes her to safety. Back on dry land, the pup shakes off on her rescuers, and seems to look at them with gratitude. Comments on the fire department Facebook page express thanks to the rescue team that saved the pup from harm.
