The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office lost one of their own on Wednesday. K-9 Justice passed away after a difficult battle with cancer. Deputies sadly said goodbye to the awesome crimefighter.
According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, K-9 Justice had been donated to the agency in December 2014 by the Jimmy Ryce Foundation and immediately became a revered member of the K-9 team as he and his handler, Sergeant Chris Spencer, worked together to help keep the community safe.
K-9 Justice helped to locate missing children, seniors with Alzheimer and even several members of the community who were having thoughts of suicide. In addition, K-9 Justice lead deputies and agents to the criminal apprehension of an arson suspect the dog was able to track from the crime scene to the suspect’s residence. And let’s not forget how this personality plus pup shared awareness campaigns in schools to help keep children safe.
K-9 Justice passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon surrounded by members of our K-9 Unit who had all worked closely with him throughout his career!! It is extremely difficult to put into words what these K-9’s mean to our handlers, our agency, and the safety of our community!! Their abilities extend from search and rescue to apprehensions and even community events and they are vital to our success!!Please keep our K-9 Deputies in your thoughts and prayers as they say goodbye to their partner!!Sheriff Wayne Ivey
Rest in peace Justice. You will be missed.
