Ohio – On Monday morning, the Mahoning County Dog Warden posted an urgent plea to the public. In a social media post, the request was made to help locate the owner of a dog who had been hit by a train.

Warning photo is upsetting. We were called by YPD to pick up a dog on Waverly that had an apparent broken leg. We were not prepared for this.

This dog was likely hit by a train. Our deputy has taken the dog to Medvet Girard. If this is your dog please contact them. Appears to have head trauma.

The plea was urgent because the dog’s condition was dire. The warden explained:

We apologize for this photo. This is the only one we have and the only chance we have to find owner quickly. Time may not be on our side. 💔

Tragically, the post was later updated to let everyone know that the dog’s injuries were severe and he could not be saved. And it appears that the owner was not located either.

Update: He did not make it. Injuries as you can imagine were way to severe. We will be bringing him back to the pound so an owner can claim him. If he is yours please call us tomorrow 330-740-2205

Rest in peace.

  1. Precious treasure, I am very sorry that you suffered horribly and were terrified to die alone and not being with your family. I am very sorry that you were failed by your humans???

Precious treasure, I know that you are in Heaven. Please look for MacKitty and join his wonderful snuggle buddies group and RIP amongst loving friends.

We have some “careless relatives” who are permanently banned from our home because they will let our pets out and not care if they are killed by predators or harmed……..
