Dog returned after being adopted – owner allegedly threatened her life

A young dog named Stella has lost her home…for the second time, and she is only a year of age. Stella was originally surrendered in October because of “landlord issues,” and then she was adopted in mid-December. Her new adopter returned her to the Fort Worth Animal Control in mid-February, telling staff that she was destructive.

Stella’s advocate shares heartbreaking information about the most recent owner’s callous disregard for her life, writing of their conversation when she was surrendered:

I told the owner the only kennel for her is outside and there’s a chance of being euthanized… his response, “well I’ll just take her home and put a bullet in her head.”

Adding:

I talked to him about training and he claims a 1 year old dog can’t be trained and that they don’t believe in kenneling a dog when they are gone. She lived with a malinois and they got along great (although apparently she was teaching him bad habits). At first she was so excited and gave me lots of kisses then once she realized she was back at the shelter, she started whining. Honestly glad she’s at the shelter at this point.

The original owner said pet has lived with and gotten along with dogs. Pet has been mostly outside. Pet enjoys tennis balls, going for walks, meeting new people, and cuddling. Does jump on people and will benefit from training.

Stella deserves to be owned by someone who will love her unconditionally, and treat her well. She deserves to be trained, to live indoors as a pet, and to be treated as part of the family. Will you please share Stella’s adoption information and help her find someone special?

  1. People get dogs and obviously think they train themselves. I pray this poor pup finds a loving home, her former owner should never have a pet!

  2. At least this person took Stella back to the shelter!!! Hopefully she will be one of the lucky dogs who is rehomed!!!

I have heard stories of POSs who would go into the woods and simply shoot their unwanted pets……. Makes me sick to my stomach……..

I cringe thinking about these poor trusting animals betrayed by their humans!!!

I hope Stella is rehomed into a loving family who will treat her as a beloved family member………
