Dog losing hope, and weight, after more than 6 months at shelter

A dog named Ringo is losing hope, and his will to survive, after months at the Guilford County Animal Services facility in North Carolina. Ringo’s advocate, a volunteer at the shelter, recently shared a poignant post on social media about the homeless pup, writing:

A moment of vulnerable honesty. I will be crushed if Ringo doesn’t make it out of the shelter. I want to be clear that the shelter is not to blame. They have supported him since I first met Ringo 180 days ago. He needs more than the shelter can provide.

Ringo’s friend outlines the way that stress is impacting the long-time shelter resident, writing:

He tries to keep his spirits up, but this is killing him. He has lost 15% of his body weight due to stress. He continues to play during his time out with staff and volunteers, but he is becoming more and more frantic when he has to go back to his kennel.

Ringo wants what all dogs want. He wants to be loved. He wants a home of his own. He wants a yard to chase after a ball in, and a person to go for walks with. He wants to be part of a family.

Will you please help Ringo? He desperately needs assistance.
