A dog named Bentley was adopted after more than 640 days at the Pennsylvania SPCA. The shelter was thrilled that the handsome boy finally found his forever family. On December 30, they posted about his adoption, writing in part:
Bentley’s road to that home was long. He was rescued by the Pennsylvania SPCA’s Humane Law Enforcement team just a few weeks into a pandemic. Little did we know that he’d spend nearly two years in our care.
But, all along, we knew there was a home out there for him. You knew there was a home out there for him too.
And a home there was. Bentley’s new family includes a mom and dad and a canine sibling with maybe the best name – Chompers. They met Bentley at the PSPCA many times, sometimes with their pup, sometimes without. Bentley’s best volunteer friends even brought him to their house for a visit to make sure it was the right match.
On Tuesday, December 28, Bentley went home.
Sadly, things did not work out for Bentley. On January 31, the shelter broke the news to Facebook followers, writing:
“Some love stories aren’t epic novels – some are short stories, but that doesn’t make them any less filled with love.”
When beautiful Bentley left for his home on December 28, we had so hoped it was finally his #furever. For 25 days our special senior boy lived with the best adopters, but it was not to be.
Bentley made it clear that he wants to be an only pup.
And with yet another holiday fast approaching, the animal welfare agency is hopeful that someone will choose sweet Bentley to be their Valentine:
We were so hopeful in the New Year we wouldn’t be sharing our beautiful grey-faced man, Bentley.But, alas, here we are. We still believe in love, and we know Bentley does too.He’s hoping to capture someone’s heart and it truly be #furever. Bentley doesn’t ask for much, just a quiet home with his people, and no other animals. Some comfy beds and blankets would be much appreciated too.
