In Hatteras, North Carolina, the Coast Guard rescued a dog that had fallen overboard in the Pamlico Sound on Saturday. The crew, aboard a boat in the area, received a report that boaters had lost their dog when he fell over the side of their boat. The Coast Guard Station Hatteras was quick to respond.

According to a Facebook post, the crew from the Coast Guard had just noticed movement in the calm waters and soon realized it was the dog named Myla swimming towards the boat.

The crew made way towards the distressed dog and hauled Myla on board. After a quick inspection to ensure no injuries, the exhausted pup was given VIP treatment by the crew and was eventually reunited with its owners. We want to congratulate Myla on being a good girl and an amazing doggie swimmer!

Myla was certainly happy to be back on the boat. It is recommended that dogs wear life vests when on boats.

Many thanks to the U.S. Coast Guard for coming to this pup’s rescue.

  1. WTG!!! Very happy that this precious treasure is rescued??? I hope the family will be more careful with her in the future (life vest, leashed & secured to “permanent boat structure” whilst cooling off)……. Tragedies can happen in a heartbeat…… must be vigilant at all times…….
