A woman who bred cats was found partially eaten by her 20 Maine Coon felines who were starving after she collapsed and died at her home in Russia. According to multiple sources, the woman’s death went unnoticed for weeks before officials went to her residence.

An animal rescuer who cared for some of the felines said:

“The cats were left alone on their own for two weeks, there was no food, so what else to eat? It’s understandable right? They ate what there was.”

Maine Coon cats are known to be “gentle giants.” Male cats can weigh in at nearly 20 pounds.

The identity of the deceased woman has not been released. The surviving cats have been placed in new homes.
