An Alaska woman was in the right place, at the right time, to help get a confused opossum out of a Brooklyn bar. The woman, identified as Sara Fulton, told customers at the bar to “hold her phone” because she was “from Alaska,” before calmly grabbing the possum by its scruff and carrying it outside, reports ABC 7 News.

The frightened animal was placed on the ground outside and could be seen scurrying away to safety – the perfect resolution to a situation that could have ended poorly for the possum.

Did you know?

Opossums are nocturnal marsupials known to consume large quantities of ticks. Though possums may appear intimidating, they are generally harmless (rarely attacking humans) and they can help keep neighborhoods clean by eating spilled garbage. Gardeners benefit from their presence because possums eat snails and other insects. Opossums are NOT known for carrying/transmitting rabies because of their low body temperature.
