It took 292 days of comfort, encouragement, social media posts, and adoption meetings that weren’t quite right before a dog named Monte found “the one.” On Tuesday, the Palm Valley Animal Society shared Monte’s adoption success story…explaining that Monte was “super shy” when he first arrived at the shelter in April 2021, and noting that it took “so many treats” to get him to come to the front of his kennel, and even longer to get him on a leash.
But with patience and encouragement, Monte finally came out of his shell and endeared himself to staff and volunteers. But even with his newfound confidence, it was a struggle to find Monte his perfect home. The shelter explained:
We’ve posted about Monte lots on social media, and he had many adopters come visit him, but no one was brave enough until a few weeks ago when Jessica came to meet him.
Noting Monte’s turnaround as soon as he could enjoy life outside of the shelter:
She was willing to take the time to let him come around. What took him months to accomplish in the shelter has taken no time at all to accomplish in a home! He’s now the master of walks and is loving his new life.
The shelter shares their thoughts about adoption, writing:
