It’s nothing less than absolute cuteness. One-year-old Jalayne Sutherland dressed up in a powder blue double breasted coat, opaque stockings, matching hat and pearls accompanied, of course by a white wig. Jalayne’s mom, Katelyn photographed her daughter’s Halloween costume standing next to the family’s two corgi dogs. And just as a whim, the family sent a copy of the photo to the Queen at Windsor Castle.

And the Trick or Treat ritual brought the Ohio family lots of compliments and attention with many neighbors and friends bowing to Jalanye. Oh how adorable that had been. Nothing however could have prepared the family – in fact tiny Jalayne for a royal response.

Qᴜᴇᴇɴ Elizabeth II was so impressed with Jalayne that she asked the Hon. Mary Morrison to write to the family:

“The Queen wishes me to write and thank you for your letter, and for the photograph you thoughtfully enclosed. Her Majesty thought it kind of you to write to her, and The Queen was pleased to see the photograph of your daughter, Jalayne, in her splendid outfit.

Her Majesty hopes you all have a very Merry Christmas, and I am enclosing a little information about the Royal Pets, which Jalayne might like to have.

Pet Rescue Report writer asked Katelyn how she reacted when the letter arrived. I mean – who would have expected a reply, and from Queen Elizabeth II?

We were exhilarated! I opened the letter and read it to Jalayne. I put her hat on her and we danced around in the kitchen.

Now let’s not forget to note in this heartwarming story that Jalayne and her corgis are best friends. According to her mother, Jalayne is always sneaking the dogs treats too!

As for Queen Elizabeth’s corgis, we can’t say for sure if the Queen sneaks them extra treats, but she has two corgis and one dorgi. The dorgi, named Candy is the oldest dog in the family, and the Queen has been credited with creating the dachshund-corgi mix. Since becoming Queen in 1952, she has owned more than 30 Pembroke Welsh Corgi dogs.

We will look forward to the family visiting Windsor Castle one day and Jalayne wearing that same outfit – likely a bigger pattern will be needed as this adorable little toddler grows up.
