On Tuesday, 53 dogs were rescued from a Johnson County, Missouri, puppy mill operation. According to the Johnson County Missouri Sheriff, a search warrant was obtained after the authorities received reports of abused and neglected dogs at a puppy mill operation in the northwest portion of the county.
The police seized dogs and puppies, whose ages range from a few weeks to 12 years of age. The dogs include a variety of breeds, including Komondors, Pugs, French Bulldogs, Pekingese, and several cross breeds. The release states:
The dogs were removed from the residence and outdoor structures and evaluated at the scene by Dr. Means and staff before being transported to local shelters. They will receive treatment for any diagnosed illnesses at the shelters.

This rescue received overwhelming assistance from Old Drum Shelter Director Kayla Frank, assistant Cassie Montgomery, Dr. Mark Means, and Joanne Means.
The owners, who were not publicly named, are expected to face numerous animal abuse charges.
