A German shepherd named Gunther VI has been the beneficiary of a trust set up by the late German Countess Karlotta Leibenstein who willed her entire fortune of $80 million to her beloved dog, Gunther III – Gunther VI’s grandfather. Leibenstein died in 1992, and according to numerous reports, she had no children or close relatives and wanted to make sure her dog was well cared for his entire remaining life. Gunther VI comes from a family of German shepherds dating back 40 years and six generations.

According to CbsMiami, the humans who oversaw the fortune, now worth about $500 million, have invested Gunther’s money into real estate around the world. Now it has been decided they will be selling the private estate in Miami comprised of a 51,000 square foot lot with 100 feet of water frontage. The property features lush landscaping, open water and city views, a pool and a fountain and deck area where Gunther likes to sunbathe when in Florida. Oh, Gunther lives in Italy fulltime.

The home has 8,400 square feet of living space, nine bedrooms, and Gunther sleeps in Madonna’s former bedroom. Yes, that’s right; this home used to belong to Madonna, and the custom round red velvet bed is one of the dog’s favorite sleeping spots.

Of course, Gunther doesn’t want to bother handling his own finances, and The Gunther Corporation makes sure the dog is well cared for after Gunther VI inherited the fortune from Gunther IV, who purchased the home from Madonna 20 years ago for $7.5 million. The property is now priced to sell at $31.75 million.

We are proud to note also, that part of the business managing Gunther VI’s finances also have money invested in scientific research. And then there’s Gunther Rescue which helps animals in need.
