A woman in Duluth, Georgia, was charged after she decided to go shopping on Monday afternoon at Walmart, leaving her young puppy inside of a parked vehicle for an hour. As reported by CBS 46 News, the puppy was saved thanks to an alert Walmart employee who could see the puppy in distress, and was able to wave down a police officer in the area.
The police officer was able to get the car open, and remove the puppy, who was said to be clearly in distress. The Duluth Police Department described the temperature inside of the vehicle where the puppy had been suffering:
“With the car off and being there for nearly an hour the inside temperature was over 119 degrees”
Gwinett Animal Control charged the puppy’s owner, but her name has not been released. There is no information about the puppy’s current condition.
