A 38-year-old woman from South Wales has been banned for life from owning pets after shocking abuse of her pet monkey was revealed. The woman is identified as Vicki Holland, and she was sentenced to 12 weeks in jail after pleading guilty to charges stemming from the abuse of her pet marmoset. The disturbing abuse was captured on video and it shows her handing cocaine to the small animal and threatening to flush the tiny, and clearly terrified monkey, down the toilet.

The marmoset managed to survive living with Holland and has been taken in by primate specialists after the abusive behavior was discovered. According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty (RSPCA), the marmoset is now being cared for by Monkey World in Dorset.

As reported by BBC News, the RSPCA has stated that it is “totally opposed” to primates being kept as pets because of their specialized needs.
