Early Tuesday morning, a 23-year-old woman, and her dog perished inside of a Toyota RAV4 when a Corvette, driven by Henry Ruggs III, a now “former” wide-receiver with the Las Vegas Raiders, slammed into her SUV. As reported by ESPN, prosecutors have stated that Ruggs’ vehicle was traveling at 156 mph two seconds before hitting the Toyota, and it registered 127 mph when the airbags deployed.

The Toyota was driven by Tina Tintor and sources say that the SUV was hit so hard that its gas tank exploded. Tintor and the dog were trapped inside of the burning vehicle and did not survive.

Ruggs was in the Corvette with his 22-year-old girlfriend, Kiara Je’nai Kilgo-Washington, who was seriously injured in the crash.

Prosecutors allege that a blood draw revealed that Ruggs’ blood alcohol was .161, which is twice the legal limit. Ruggs went to the hospital after the accident and the Raiders released him from the team shortly thereafter. Ruggs is not in jail, but he is in home confinement and prohibited from consuming alcohol and from driving. He was also ordered to surrender his passport.

Ruggs has secured two Las Vegas attorneys to handle his case. His attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, released a statement, which is included in an article from The Sun:
