A woman in Atlanta, Georgia, along with her beloved dog, Bowie, were fatally stabbed in Piedmont Park early Wednesday morning. As reported by Fox 5 Atlanta, someone repeatedly stabbed 40-year-old Katherine Janness, and her pit bull Bowie, while they were on a walk. Now the FBI has joined the local authorities in an effort to find the responsible party.

A reward of $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of whoever is responsible. The Atlanta Police Department Tweeted:

APD needs your help solving a homicide that occurred on July 28, 2021 at Piedmont Park. The woman & her dog were both killed inside the park. A $10k reward is being offered for info. Contact

at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or call the APD Homicide Unit at 404-546-4235.

Janness lived not far from the park with her partner, Emma Clark, who is said to be “devastated.” It was Clark who made the grim discovery after Janness failed to return home from the park. She used her cell phone to track Janness’ location and discovered the grisly scene after going to the location where the victim’s phone pinged.

Investigators have referred to the crime scene as “gruesome,” and as of right now, there is no known motive.

  1. What a cruel, heartless act. Rest in peace Katherine Janness with your faithful dog Bowie. I pray there is justice for the monster that did this to you. What has our country become, there is much too much violence going on!
