A woman in Lexington, North Carolina, is accused of a heinous act of animal cruelty involving a badly injured dog who was denied veterinary care and locked away. As reported by Fox 8 News, a 26-year-old woman allegedly locked her injured dog in a crawlspace, without food or water.

The news agency does not name the woman or report if the dog was discovered alive or dead.

According to the warrant, the dog had been hit by a car and suffered a broken back. The woman was advised by animal control to take the dog to a veterinarian, but she didn’t. Instead, she apparently put the grievously injured dog into a crawlspace without any food. The woman was arrested on a felony charge of animal cruelty and then released on $1,000 bond.
