A woman is facing a charge after a dog was found tied up, without food or water, inside of a U-Haul truck that was parked in Warren, Ohio. According to WFMJ News, 51-year-old Stephanie DeLoach allegedly left her dog tied to the gearshift of the vehicle for days.

Warren Animal Control Officer John Onatz found the dog on Friday after being called out to the parking lot of the St. Joseph Riverside Hospital; he found the truck with cracked windows, but noted that it was too hot for the dog to be inside of the vehicle.

The woman was staying at a nearby shelter and told Officer Onatz that she had nowhere for her dog to stay. DeLoach is facing a charge for animal abandonment. The dog was turned over to the Trumbull County Dog pound for care – the shelter is seeking a new home for the dog.
