In Canfield, Ohio, a dog who has spent five-and-a-half years at the Animal Charity of Ohio has found his forever home.

“2018 days. 5 years 8 months 6 days. This boy came with Heartworm, it was treated years ago, and he is cured. He had multiple tail surgeries. Weekly medical baths. But this guy made it out! He is going HOME!! We love this sweet boy so so much!! Thank you Barb for working so hard to give him his much deserved life! We are going to miss him like crazy! We wouldn’t want him to be anywhere else but snuggled on a couch and running around in his new yard!”

So how did this all happen? Doug Sears, a volunteer at the non profit animal welfare organization comes to walk shelter dogs five days a week. One of his favorites through the years, happen to have been Caesar, and Doug was determined to help this boy find a home. And then the stars happened to come together, because it is a friend of Doug’s who is adopting the dog.

Caesar hasn’t had it easy, and this boy has definitely paid his dues and deserves lots and lots of love and affection. When he arrived back in 2016, he was completely bald and suffered from heartworms.

“Sweet boy Caesar. He was rescued in May 2016 by Agents. This week Caesar’s tail needed amputated because of happy tail. He would constantly wag his tail and bang it against the sides of his kennel. After his surgery, Caesar decided he didn’t want to go to his kennel, but instead just snuggle. So we did just that.”

There are two other long term residents who could use a happy ending. Cami and Spike have both been at the shelter for over five years. Their adoption fees are free because they are covered by sponsors. And of course, there are plenty of younger dogs and beautiful cats. Why shop when you can adopt?

Live a long and happy life Caesar.
