A disturbing surveillance video showed a five-year-old German shepherd tied to a vehicle and dragged around the Gospel Mission Church by two people driving a 2011 white Toyota Corolla. Officials in Sullivan County, Tennessee are investigating the January 29 event. The investigation began on Thursday, February 4.

According to a press release by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, help from the public to identify the individuals responsible for dragging the dog in the parking lot located along Lone Star Road in Kingsport would be appreciated. A $2,500 reward has been offered for the arrest and conviction of the persons involved in this cruel act.

People from the church rushed the dog to Andes-Straley Veterinary Hospital, and Dr. Gary Andes and his staff have been helping the dog dubbed Church recover. Church” is being treated at Andes-Straley Veterinary Hospital in Kingsport. It’s going to take 3-4 mo. for his recovery, according to the hospital.

The dog suffered injuries to his ankles, knees and chest.

When found, the suspects will be charged with aggravated animal cruelty charge, a Class E felony and could face  from one to six years in prison.

As for Church’s progress, this is one lucky pooch to be receiving such amazing care:

Church update 2/6: He has had a good day, wounds are healing well and he’s eating well and in good spirits. We want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support needed for the continued care for this sweet boy.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 423-279-7330.

To donate to Church’s recovery, veterinarians are accepting donations for Church at the hospital located at 3407 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport, TN 37664. The hospital’s phone number is 423.378.4443. Although Church is not available for adoption at this time, it is hoped when he is fully healed, he will find the perfect home.

    OMG: WHY do this???

I don’t understand why anyone would think this cruelty is “fun”???

I am glad that Church survived and is learning that not all humans are cruel……

I hope the POSs who were so cruel are found, arrested and locked up for a very long time!!!
