An urgent plea for help has been issued for an adorable puppy who was surrendered to a busy animal control agency in Martinez, California. The 11-month-old puppy, named Ritchie, was surrendered to the Contra Costa County Animal Services facility on September 14, and already he is on the dreaded “list” of dogs at risk of being put down.

On Wednesday, the Contra Costa County Shelter Dogs Facebook page wrote:

11 MONTH OLD RITCHIE IS ON THE EUTHANASIA LIST.

“Hello, I hate to bother you but this is an URGENT matter. My name is RITCHIE #A0971603 and I’m only 11 months old.

11 MONTH OLD RITCHIE IS ON THE EUTHANASIA LIST.

Adding details about his surrender:

My owner surrender me to the shelter because one previous skin break and two other nips without injury. I’m just a puppy. It is very scary in here.

And more about the help that is needed to save Ritchie’s life:

The shelter wants me to go to a rescue group and a good foster home so they can teach me all I need to know to grow up and be the best dog I can be. I listen well with treats. No one really has put in the time to train me. Training is so rewarding to a dog and person! The shelter put me “In Need T” which means I don’t have much time left to find a rescue group to save me. The stress I’m under is killing me!
Will you be the rescue group / foster home that gives me a chance of a good life?
