Two puppies cruelly confined to a crate and starved for weeks have been rescued by the Arrow Fund. On Friday local animal control officers discovered an adult female dog and her two puppies abandoned in a crate; the excrement piled so high the dogs were barely visible.

According to the rescue organization, the dogs survived by eating the three other deceased puppies. At the time of their rescue, their body scores were assessed at “1” when they were rushed to the rescue’s partner veterinary hospital. The mother dog is not in critical condition and remains in the care of the local humane society.

Tragically, officials also found several deceased reptiles and turtles on the property. The owner has allegedly been charged with six counts of animal cruelty.

The puppies will be needing continued medical care. Donations can be made by clicking here.
