Two poodles in Sebastian, Florida, are being hailed heroes after helping to save a family’s missing dog. As reported by the Sebastian Daily, Winnie the Poodle and Lucy Golden Doodle roused their slumbering family on Christmas morning after they saw a dog struggling in the Layport Drive Canal.

The barking poodles successfully got their owner, Michele Longo, who told the news agency:

My dogs awakened us at 6 a.m. to find them barking at a dog swimming in the canal on Layport Drive. I was able to rescue and pull her out of the water.

The dog who was in the canal was Sophie; her family was desperate to find the dog they described as “the sweetest dog ever.” The soggy pup was reunited with her family, in what those familiar with the situation are referring to as “a Christmas miracle.”
