A tragic situation in Mahoning County, Ohio, has resulted in the death of an elderly woman’s senior dog. The sad story was shared on Wednesday with followers of the Mahoning County Dog Warden.

Animal control was sent out to a residence after an elderly woman was found deceased; the Mahoning County dog warden’s page wrote:

Yesterday evening Tara was called out by dispatch to a home where an elderly woman had been found deceased. From what we were told the last known contact anyone had with her was about two weeks ago.

An elderly, frail dog had been inside of the home for the entire time that her owner was dead – the extended amount of time without care sadly took a toll on the senior dog that she could not overcome. The ailing dog was rushed to a veterinarian, but she could not be saved.

This sweet little lady was not able to recover. They had to let her go.

Rest in Peace beautiful Kaley. No more hunger, fear and confusion. You and your momma are together again. ❤️
