The worst reason to be surrendered to an animal shelter is because you’re “too old.” Most families shopping at shelters are not interested in older dogs, and the option to euthanize them is much too often the only way these soulful pups leave the shelter. Sadly, that’s what Rocky’s owner said when he dumped his dog at the Harris County Pets Resource Center.
Perhaps being surrendered was the best thing his previous owners could have done for Rocky. Animal advocates are hoping he will soon receive the love and care he desperately needs. A volunteer writes:
“Rocky’s owner didn’t take care of him at all. This boy is not neutered and heartworm positive. if they can surrender their dog for his age, you know his care wasn’t a priority…”
