At the Garland Animal Services, a plea went out to approved animal rescues asking for help with a three-week-old puppy weighing less than one pound. He was found in a park by a Good Samaritan who stated the puppy was alone and crying.

The medical staff did not know how the puppy, dubbed Buckeye lost his leg. The shelter staff had been monitoring him very carefully since he only ate puppy baby formula and were relieved when Dallas Dog – Rescue.Rehab.Reform stepped up to help.

Buckeye was immediately transferred to the veterinary hospital.

“…admitted and he has a severe number of hookworms; they have already got deworming started,” the rescue volunteer reported. “He was covered in fleas too. He was strong while in my car – my fear is once they start treating he will tank! The doctor reported that they had to give him a break. He suddenly got pretty dumpy after IV placement…”

Buckeye continues to receive IV medication and is being treated for pain. Once he is stable, he will have the remaining part of his leg amputated.

  1. I am very happy that this precious little treasure is rescued!!! This precious little treasure is very lucky to have been found by good people (vs. a predator like a hawk, eagle, owl, coyote, bobcat, snake)…….

I hope he recovers ASAP and is rehomed into a loving furever family where he will be treated as a beloved family member. He deserves a wonderful life with people who will love and treasure him…….

I pray for the others who are not found…… the precious little treasures dumped in the woods, the deserts……. I do NOT understand why an individual would think abandoning a helpless furbaby is “ok”???

Whoever abandoned this precious tiny furbaby has earned themselves a reserved spot in the hottest part of Hell to burn forever for their cruelty…….

  2. Thank God a compassionate person found this baby and got help. IF it’s NOT the person who committed this gruesome act, God bless them for that! Just when you think Texan’s can’t find a lower realm to commit heinous torture against one of God’s most loving animals, these demon spawned freaks find a way. I, along with many others who have supported rescues in Texas and laws to curtail this, have LITERALLY given up on Texas. With heavy hearts, we must put our resources, time and support to states that have a MAJORITY of the people’s support in making solid changes that SERVE BOTH the communities AND animals in their state.
