When a dog dubbed Henry was found laying alongside a road in Harris County, Texas, it was presumed that he had been hit by a car. But a veterinary exam pointed to something much more sinister.
According to Wag Again Rescue, the veterinarian thinks that the injured dog was beaten, and dumped. The rescue group writes:
After our veterinary partner examined Henry, it is his opinion that his injuries are inconsistent with those of a dog that was struck by a car. He believes that Henry was potentially beat and then dumped. His injuries are not contiguous and he doesn’t have road rash.
Henry is in critical condition – the rescue organization explains:
Evaluation shows an enlarged heart from being in shock, a fractured upper and lower jaw, facial fractures, and a fractured acetabulum in his hip joint. He has been started on Hetastarch for shock and blood pressure stabilization. Antibiotics have been started along with pain medications and IV fluids.
Henry is fighting for his life, and he remains “touch and go.”
