A man in Houston, Texas, is accused of a horrific act of animal cruelty which claimed the life of a kitten. As reported by Click 2 Houston, 27-year-old David Arias was arrested last weekend, at his north Houston home, for allegedly torturing and strangling a kitten, and burying the three-week-old feline in his yard.

In a statement, Harris County Constable Alan Rosen said:

When citizens step up to report cruelty, it helps us enforce the message that animal abuse crimes are not acceptable and there will be serious consequences for harming an animal in Harris County,”

Adam Reynolds, Chief Animal Cruelty Investigator for the Houston SPCA, added:

We rely heavily on our community’s eyes and ears to report animal cruelty, in fact, it’s critical that it’s reported immediately, especially when it involves any degree of violence towards animals.”

Arias is facing one felony count of animal cruelty to a non-livestock animal.
