Need another reason besides the best friend any human could ever want? A Wylie, Texas family is crediting their eight-year-old dog Marley with saving them after a man wielding a knife entered their home in the middle of the night.
According to Fox News, Thong Pham, 53, entered the Newsom’s family home through an unlocked back door. Moments later, Marley attacked the stranger forcing the intruder into the corner. When Amber Newsom heard the commotion, she came running out and couldn’t see anything in the dark room, but heard the dog growling and barking. When she turned on the lights, she saw Pham.
Amber’s husband, Taylor confronted the intruder and during the struggle was stabbed in the arm. Marley was also injured, but the dog had no intentions of letting anything stop her from protecting her family. Pham ran from the house, but was soon apprehended by police.
No doubt Marley was the hero – had it not been for her, the family shudders with fear at what could have happened. The family’s two young children were very shaken by the incident and have been staying with relatives.
Pham has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and animal cruelty. He has a record of criminal charges ranging from assault to burglary.
